Elastomeric Joint Compound

Description
Joint Compound is a polymer based, extremely elastomeric joint bridging and leveling compound used over seams and joints on direct application to substrate sheathings, also used to repair cracks in stucco, brick, CMU, and vertical concrete surfaces.

Color
Light Gray

Container
48 pounds net weight / 5-gallon pail
8 pound / 1 gallon pail

Use
Joint Compound is used at seams, inside and outside corners with direct applied systems. It is also used as a leveling compound in the field of the wall.

Adhesion Excellent adhesion to most construction substrates.

Coverage
Approximately 350 - 500 lineal feet of joint per 5 gallon pail, allowing for a 1/4" by 1/8" gap.

Drying Time
12-24 hours, depending on climate. Drying time can be greatly affected by temperature and humidity.

Storage
Protect from freezing. Store in a cool, dry area tightly sealed. Recommended storage temperature between 40-90 F.

Clean-up
Water soluble when wet.

Shelf Life
One year, if protected from direct sunlight and freezing temperatures.

Limitations

  1. Ambient and surface temperatures must be above 40 F during application and drying period.
  2. Joint Compound should never be used on horizontal surfaces.

Surface Preparation
Substrate must be clean, dry, and free from all loose or foreign materials prior to application of Joint Compound.

Application
Joint Compound is applied to the substrate using a drywall knife or trowel with sufficient pressure to ensure deep penetration into the joint. Outside and inside corner applications require mesh to be imbedded on all systems; most applications require mesh at seams as well, see specifications for details.
